NEW TECHNOLOGY - PAINLESS TREATMENT TO STOP SNORING, TONSILS AND
BREATHING PROBLEMS
A new modality of treatment for children and adults suffering from
recurrent colds, wheezing, and snoring and tonsil problems is being launched at
VIKRAM
E.N.T.
Hospital. COBLATOR II, an American technology which
aims at reducing pain and getting patients back to normal quickly is now
available for the first time in Tamil Nadu. It has what is termed a “magic wand”
which works on ionic exchange in a plasma medium. Previously painful techniques which
require long hospital stay, and ridden with complications like post-operative
infection and bleeding are today simple, safe, requiring no hospital stay even
some times.
Most children do not require tonsillectomy at all as the adenoids is the
cause of most colds and nasal blocks, mouth breathing, snoring, middle ear
problems and protruding teeth. “Adenoid facies” is a thin child with open mouth
breathing, overcrowded protruding teeth, pigeon chest and altered facial
features. Child will be dull with
lack of concentration leading to poorer academic performances. Years of snoring and impaired breathing
can even affect the lungs and heart.
A totally safe, painless 10 minute endoscopic treatment changes the
child’s health completely for life. Easy free breathing with no wheezing or
snoring with better oxygen being available promotes the physical and mental
growth of the child. Increased
height, weight and school performances are resultant due to the increased oxygen
and food intake. Moreover these
recurrent colds are the cause for cholesteatomas, which are aggressive bone
eroding diseases in children’s ears which require major open surgeries in the
future. These are being prevented
by just treating the adenoids alone.
Excess repeated use of antibiotics is avoided promoting health and well
being.
Only long term untreated colds and adenoids lead to chronic tonsil
problems which may even affect the kidney or heart. Tonsillectomies were associated with risk and pain in the past. Now the COBLATOR II gives the patients
the option of tonsillectomy with the least amount of pain and bleeding available
in the world at present time.
