Bilateral Vestibulopathy

The inner balancing control of both of the ears gets missing in this medical condition, and because of this, the patient has difficulty walking and also has visual disturbances. The problem will be more during darkness or when he or she is uncertain about the placement of feet. The resultant dizziness will make the patient mentally worried.
Causes of bilateral vestibulopathy:
This can occur due to varied reasons such as ‘Autoimmune Inner Ear Disease (AIED)’, ‘Meniere’s Disease’, ‘Tumor’, ‘Trauma’, ‘Ototoxicity’, ‘Migraine’, etc. This can also happen due to the hereditary reasons. Generally, it is also seen that bilateral Vestibulopathy is due to side effects of ototoxic medications. Aging is another natural causes of bilateral vestibulopathy. Yet another possible cause is ‘siderosis’, which is a typical condition in which iron gets deposited in tissues.
Symptoms of bilateral vestibulopathy:
The individual will feel body imbalance, and there will be visual blurring. The visual symptoms are termed as ‘Oscillopsia’, and these will occur whenever there is a movement of the head. Consult our ENT specialist if you notice these symptoms and get treated.
